Introduction: The Origin Story

Some say that if you're ever in Ireland on St. Patrick's Day and follow a rainbow all the way to its end, you'll discover a pot of gold waiting for you. What they don't tell you is that sometimes the pot might look back（⊙ｏ⊙） .

Meet the legendary Pot 'O Freaky Gold. With a head full of Irish treasure, a grin showing off a golden ganster coin tooth, he will give a friendly (ironically Purple) reminder on his misshapen handle to wear green on this special day. This bizarre freak will forever leave a disturbing imprint in your mind Whether it feels friendly or unsettling is entirely up to the viewer.

About This Piece

Yeah... I know this one is ugly and a bit hard to look at, but just look at a little longer for me as I tell the tale of this eye-torture: this monstrosity was one of my earliest St. Patrick’s Day inspired works. In Irish folklore, following a rainbow leads you to a pot of gold guarded by a leprechaun. In my version here however, the legend took a much stranger turn.

What started as a funny little drawing quickly became something far creepier than intended. Over time, it transformed into what I now call the "Pot 'O Freaky Gold," a piece that lives on as both an inside mental joke and a warning about my creative unpredictability.

It went From "Happy" to "Gangster" real fast

The idea behind this drawing was to create a funny, personified version of a pot of gold. I gave it a face, and a “gangster-like” attitude with a single gold tooth for that good grill.

However, the final result became something much freakier than my normal messed up kid mind intended. With a wide grin, a mismatched purple handle (what was I thinking?), and a slightly uneasy expression, this thing sits somewhere between humorous and a little unsettling. In a way, that tension is exactly what makes it soo memorable.

Technical Breakdown: my Crayons and #2 Pencil

Like many of my early works, this piece was created using simple tools: white printing paper, a #2 pencil, and some crayons all given by my parents to fuel my sick desieres.

1. Pencil Work: The loose, uneven structure of the pot came from an unstable child's freehand sketching without any reference (typical), giving it its intentionally “off” proportions.

2. Crayon Texture: The waxy color added a childlike contrast to the creepy expression, especially in the golden coins.

3. Color Choice: The purple handle breaks the traditional green-and-gold palette, creating an ironic strong visual contrast that emphasizes the oddness.

The Importance of funny art

One of the reasons I still love this soo much is because it became a kind of family inside joke. It was never meant to be serious or polished—it was meant to be funny (if not alittle freaky like me).

Every St. Patrick’s Day, it would resurface as a reminder that art doesn’t always have to be perfect to be meaningful. Sometimes the “bad” drawings are the ones you remember the most.

Final Thoughts

The Pot 'O Freaky Gold stands out is a weird yet important piece. It reminds me that creativity often works best when there not too much though behind it. Whether you find it funny, creepy, or alittle bit of both (fair), it represents an important stage of my crazy and questionable experimentation of my wild artistic journey.
